Two new features are coming to WeChat.
On March 29, after receiving feedback from a large number of users and bloggers, WeChat has recently started testing two new features in the iOS version, which are online preview of compressed files and floating reminders for transfers. In terms of handling compressed files, users previously had to download the entire file to their local device and then use a third-party application to unzip it in order to view its contents. Now, users who have been selected for the testing phase will find a new "Preview" button at the bottom after clicking on a compressed file in the chat interface. They can click on it to view the file list within the compressed package, browse in list or thumbnail format, and choose to forward, save, or download individual or multiple files without downloading the entire compressed package. However, this feature currently only supports ZIP format compressed files, while formats such as RAR and 7Z are not yet supported. The files that can be previewed mainly include Office documents, images, and some audio and video formats.
