Australian Prime Minister Albanese announced on the 28th that due to the Middle East conflict pushing up global energy prices, the Australian government will provide guarantees for additional fuel imports, assuming the financial risks to ensure domestic supply. Albanese stated at a press conference in Sydney that the government will submit a revised bill to the federal parliament on the 30th, allowing the government to provide guarantees through the official export credit agency, the Export Finance Australia, for private suppliers to purchase additional fuel, fertilizers, and other essential goods. He said that this will boost confidence for private suppliers to obtain additional supply. The Australian government pointed out in a statement that the support only applies to additional supplies purchased from the international market to safeguard Australia's energy security, and does not apply to daily transactions. Currently, fuel prices have skyrocketed in Australia due to supply shortages. Chris Bowen, Australia's Minister for Climate Change and Energy, stated at the press conference that as of the 28th, Australia has a 39-day supply of gasoline, a 30-day supply of diesel, and a 30-day supply of aviation fuel in national reserves.
