Brain-machine interfaces can treat Parkinson's disease, and medical insurance can cover 80% of the cost.
The journalist conducted an exclusive interview with Hao Hongwei, the General Manager of Beijing Pinchi Medical Equipment Co., Ltd. and Deputy Director of the National Engineering Research Center for Neural Regulation. He stated that brain-machine interface therapy is no longer a "luxury item with sky-high prices". The cost of implant surgery varies from tens of thousands to two or three hundred thousand yuan depending on the type of product and the complexity of the surgery; non-invasive rehabilitation training is charged per session, with each session costing several hundred yuan and a full course costing around a few thousand yuan. "Currently, most provinces in the country have included our implanted neural regulation brain-machine interface devices in medical insurance coverage for the treatment of diseases such as Parkinson's and epilepsy. For example, the reimbursement rate for employees' medical insurance in Beijing and Shanghai can reach 80%," Hao Hongwei said.
