US media: Officials reveal Europe is planning to develop a post-war oil tanker escort plan.
According to two European senior officials, while Trump publicly complained about Europe refusing to join in the Iran war, European defense officials were privately having detailed discussions about helping to secure the waters near the Iranian coastline after the war. European leaders had previously stated they were willing to help protect shipping in the region after the war, but according to officials, the plans being discussed are more extensive than what has been publicly disclosed. The plans being discussed include: 1) sending escort ships to accompany oil tankers and other merchant ships through the strait; 2) if necessary, using the anti-aircraft guns on these escort ships to shoot down Iranian drones and missiles; 3) conducting shows of force to reassure shipping companies and insurance companies.
