Hainan Free Trade Port closed for 100 days, the number of foreign tourists entering without visas increased by 54% compared to last year

On March 27th, after 100 days of operation, Hainan Free Trade Port welcomed the island's closure. According to statistics, since the start of the closure operation on December 18, 2025, the total immigration and customs inspections at the Haikou Entry-Exit Border Defense Inspection General Station have approved over 970,000 inbound and outbound personnel and more than 7,700 transportation vehicles, an increase of 36.8% and 26.7% respectively compared to the previous year. Among them, the number of foreign nationals entering and exiting reached 518,000, an increase of 44.5% compared to the previous year, accounting for 52.9% of the total number of inbound and outbound personnel; the number of visa-free entry foreign tourists reached 223,000, an increase of 54% compared to the previous year, accounting for 93.5% of the total number of foreign nationals entering the port.
