At the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Meeting held on March 26, the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced an important achievement made by Chinese research teams in the chip industry: the "Xiangshan" open-source computing system and the "Ruyi" native operating system based on the fifth-generation Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC-V). The "Xiangshan" open-source computing system is currently the only open-source high-performance processor system based on the fifth-generation RISC-V instruction set worldwide. It breaks the monopoly of high-end processor IP by providing fully open-source technology, allowing companies to freely access core technology and independently develop high-end chips. The "Ruyi" native operating system is a "personal steward" specifically designed for the fifth-generation RISC-V architecture chips, with its core function being to solve the compatibility issues between chips and software. It establishes a unified "testing platform" to avoid the problem of "software ecosystem fragmentation" from the root, and also ensures that high-end chips can fully utilize performance by providing native support for the RVA23 international high-performance standard, ensuring that related software runs stably.
