Guangzhou Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. and FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. are recalling some domestically produced cars.
Recently, GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., and FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the Regulations for the Management of Recalls of Defective Automotive Products and the Implementing Measures for the Regulations of the Management of Recalls of Defective Automotive Products.
1. GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. Recall No. S2026M0036V: Starting from April 1, 2026, a total of 317,990 Highlanders produced between August 7, 2021, and September 22, 2025, will be recalled.
2. FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. Recall No. S2026M0037V: Starting from April 1, 2026, a total of 242,170 Crown Lander vehicles produced between July 27, 2021, and January 20, 2026, will be recalled.
The vehicles included in this recall have a design issue with the adjustment mechanism of the second-row seat back, where the return spring force is too strong, causing the seat back to lock improperly. In the event of a collision, this may prevent effective restraint and protection of occupants, increasing the risk of injury and posing a safety hazard. GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., and FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., will provide free replacement of the improved return spring of the second-row seat back adjustment mechanism for the vehicles within the recall scope to eliminate the safety hazard.
