The Shanghai Shipping Exchange stated that in January-February, the overall operation of the transportation and shipping economy achieved a good start, with rapid growth in freight volume, port cargo throughput, and stable scale of inter-regional personnel flow. In January-February, the commercial cargo volume reached 830 million tons, an increase of 6.5% year-on-year. Among them, the completion of road cargo volume was 615 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%; the completion of waterway cargo volume was 1.34 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.0%. In January-February, the total port cargo throughput reached 2.87 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%. Among them, the domestic and foreign trade throughput increased by 6.4% and 8.9% respectively year-on-year. The completion of container throughput was 587.7 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%.
