Senior economist Chua Han Teng from the OCBC Group stated in a report that there may be fluctuations in the performance of the manufacturing industry in Singapore in the near future. In February, manufacturing output contracted by 0.1% year-on-year, as factories were closed during the Chinese New Year holidays. Apart from the electronics industry, the other sectors of manufacturing showed a decline, mainly due to temporary shutdowns during the festive period. In the short term, favorable factors related to global artificial intelligence and external demand for storage chips and server products in the city may continue to support the output of electronic products. However, Chua warned that the escalating tensions in the Middle East may disrupt crucial input supplies for Singapore's manufacturing industry.
