South Korea's low-cost carrier is cutting international flights due to the soaring fuel costs.
According to industry insiders, due to the ongoing tension in the Middle East and soaring fuel costs, low-cost airlines in South Korea are cutting international flights to mitigate their impact. After Air Premia decided to cancel 26 flights from Incheon to Los Angeles and 6 flights from Incheon to Honolulu between April 20 and May 31, they plan to temporarily suspend 10 flights from Incheon to San Francisco and New York in May. Eastar Jet plans to suspend 50 flights from Incheon to Phu Quoc Island from May 5 to 31, citing limited refueling conditions in Vietnam. Busan Air and Aero K Airlines have announced a reduction in flights on some international routes starting in April. Industry insiders also revealed that the three major low-cost airlines in South Korea - Jeju Air, T'way Air, and Jin Air - are also considering cutting services on some Southeast Asian routes.
