On the 26th, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Grossi, in Beijing. Wang Yi stated that the world today is turbulent and unstable, with some countries trampling on rules with their strength and replacing cooperation with bullying. The international order since World War II is facing unprecedented challenges, with the international system centered around the United Nations experiencing a crisis of trust. There is a real danger of reverting to the "law of the jungle" in the world. Wang Yi pointed out that conflict in the Middle East is spreading and escalating, with consequences that are difficult to estimate, especially if nuclear facilities are targeted, which would have serious consequences and put the people of the region in danger. It is important to prevent escalating confrontations and to protect world peace and regional stability. History has repeatedly proven that war and aggression are not the right path for humanity. Only by immediately ceasing fire, stopping war, and resuming dialogue and negotiations can the root causes of conflict be truly eliminated. Wang Yi emphasized that China will firmly adhere to and practice multilateralism, uphold the authority and status of the United Nations Charter, and strive to revitalize and strengthen the United Nations, to promote the construction of a more just and reasonable global governance system. The International Atomic Energy Agency plays an important role in global nuclear governance, assuming increasingly prominent international responsibilities and carrying the expectations of people from all countries. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, defend the international nuclear non-proliferation system, and make efforts to maintain peace. Grossi stated that the world today is facing uncertainty and unprecedented changes, causing concern, and all countries must work together to address challenges. President Xi Jinping's four major global initiatives fully demonstrate China's strong support for the international system with the United Nations at its core, which is highly appreciated by the International Atomic Energy Agency. China is a major nuclear power and an important member of the agency. The International Atomic Energy Agency adheres to the One-China policy and is willing to deepen communication and cooperation with China in resolving relevant hot-spot issues and promoting the peaceful use of nuclear energy, in order to jointly protect the international nuclear non-proliferation system and maintain world peace and stability.
