On March 26, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the situation related to accelerating the establishment of a long-term care insurance system, and answered questions from reporters. Huang Xinyu, director of the Medical Service Management Department of the National Medical Insurance Administration, introduced that in September 2024, the National Medical Insurance Administration issued the Management Measures for Designated Long-Term Care Insurance Service Institutions, requiring various regions to plan the allocation of designated long-term care service institutions in the region based on the needs of insured persons for long-term care, solidify the foundation of long-term care service work; designated long-term care service institutions need to be equipped with professional service teams, strengthen internal control management, comply with relevant price and fee policy regulations, and have the conditions to connect with the medical insurance information platform. Huang Xinyu stated that the National Medical Insurance Administration strengthens the assessment and evaluation of designated long-term care service institutions, establishes and improves a dynamic management mechanism, guides and promotes self-management and industry self-discipline among designated long-term care service institutions, and regulates service behaviors. Currently, there are 12,000 designated long-term care service institutions nationwide, with approximately 370,000 employees. Taking Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, which established the system relatively early, as an example, there are already 368 designated long-term care service institutions in Nantong City. Insured individuals can inquire about the types of services provided by these designated service institutions, such as home care, community care, or institutional care, through the Nantong City Medical Insurance Bureau's WeChat public account or official website.
