On March 25, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a phone call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdul Atti as scheduled. Abdul Atti outlined his views on the regional situation, expressing Egypt's deep concerns about the current situation, especially the paralysis of energy and power facilities which could lead to chaos in the entire region. Egypt is actively communicating with all parties to promote negotiations and cool down the situation. Egypt and China are comprehensive strategic partners, and Egypt is willing to maintain close coordination with China to strengthen diplomatic efforts together and prevent the region and the world from descending into turmoil. Wang Yi stated that China and Egypt are both responsible major countries, opposed to military actions without authorization from the United Nations Security Council, attacks on civilians and civilian facilities, and against affecting Gulf countries. The situation in the Middle East is changing rapidly, with both the United States and Iran sending signals for negotiations and a glimmer of hope for peace. Continuing the war will only lead to more casualties and senseless losses, further escalating the situation. The international community should actively promote dialogue between conflicting parties, as peace is possible as long as talks are held. Actions by the Security Council should help ease tensions and promote dialogue, preventing the escalation of conflict and the use of force without authorization. China supports Egypt in continuing its mediation efforts to promote the resumption of negotiations and the cessation of war, and China is willing to continue making constructive efforts towards this goal.
