Dutch International: If Bank of England official Greene supports a rate increase in April, the pound may rise.
Chris Turner of the Netherlands International Group stated in a report that if Bank of England official Megan Greene supports a rate hike in April while speaking at a meeting at 1200 Greenwich Mean Time, the pound against the euro could rise. At last week's meeting, Megan Greene expressed concerns about the impact of rising energy and fertilizer prices on food. Turner said she seems to agree with Bank of England chief economist Huw Pill, who stated on Tuesday that uncertainty from the Iran war is not an excuse for inaction on inflation pressures. Data from the London Stock Exchange Group shows that the market currently reflects a 65% likelihood of a rate hike in April. He mentioned that the possibility of a hike next month is unlikely, but the trend in interest rate expectations could boost the pound. The euro is steady at 0.8652 pounds against the pound.
