The eighth meeting of the Mainland and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee was held in Beijing.
On March 23, Assistant Minister of Commerce Yuan Xiaoming and Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Chen Maobo co-chaired the eighth meeting of the Mainland and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee. Yuan Xiaoming stated that 2026 marks the beginning of the "14th Five-Year Plan," and holding a meeting of the Mainland and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee at this time is of great significance in forming mutual cooperation consensus and further deepening economic and trade relations between the two regions. The Ministry of Commerce will actively promote the implementation and expansion of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), support Hong Kong's integration into and service of the national development landscape, support Hong Kong's participation in the construction of the "Belt and Road" and regional economic cooperation, and help boost Hong Kong's economic development. Chen Maobo stated that national economic development provides Hong Kong with broad space and opportunities, and Hong Kong will fully leverage its unique advantages as a bridge between the country and the world under the framework of "One Country, Two Systems." With support from the Ministry of Commerce, fruitful results have been achieved in economic and trade cooperation between the Mainland and Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government is willing to work together with the Ministry of Commerce to further deepen economic and trade cooperation between the two regions through the Mainland and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee.
