Arm, known for licensing technology to semiconductor manufacturers, will begin selling its own chips for the first time, aiming to carve out a larger share of the big spending on AI devices. Arm announced at an event in San Francisco on Tuesday that Meta will be its main customer for the first AGI CPU chip. Arm said the product will have up to 136 cores (a measure of processing power) and consume 300 watts of power. TSMC will be responsible for producing these chips. After the announcement, Arm's stock soared to an intraday high.
