Meta appoints a new leader responsible for leading the company's transition into the native artificial intelligence field.
Meta Platforms' Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth will take over the company's effort to transition towards AI-native. An internal memo stated that he will be in charge of Meta's "AI For Work" project, which was previously led by another executive, Guy Rosen. This move comes as Meta seeks to enhance agility and maintain an edge in competition with smaller AI-native startups in terms of personnel scale. Bosworth said in a memo to employees, "As I've delved deeper into this work, I've found a lot to be proud of. Early pilot programs, a willingness to stress-test new ideas, and the velocity with which we've driven the team to adopt AI tools have created real momentum for us as we enter this next phase." Bosworth has been with the company since 2006 and assumed the role of Chief Technology Officer in 2022. His responsibilities include overseeing the company's metaverse business, encompassing virtual reality and augmented reality.
