Boao Zero-Carbon Demonstration Zone has entered the normal "zero-carbon operation" stage comprehensively.
Since March 2025, the "Boao Near Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone" has been renamed as the "Boao Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone". The energy-saving and carbon reduction effects in the demonstration zone have been significant, and it has fully entered the normal "zero carbon operation" stage. According to actual data, the carbon dioxide emissions related to energy in buildings and municipal infrastructure in the Boao Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone in 2025 have decreased from 11,350.1 tons in 2019 to approximately 14.6 tons, achieving a 99.9% reduction in carbon emissions. The demonstration zone produces 29 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity annually, meeting the annual electricity demand of approximately 19.4 million kilowatt-hours in the demonstration zone, and the remaining 9.6 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity can be sent to the grid.
