Liu Liehong, Director of the National Bureau of Statistics, stated that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the proportion of the added value of the core digital economy industry to GDP is expected to increase from 7.8% in 2020 to over 10.5% by the year 2025, indicating that the fundamental and supporting role of the core digital economy industry in the national economy will become more prominent. In 2026, the National Bureau of Statistics will make every effort to promote the high-quality development of the digital economy. Firstly, it will cultivate digital industry clusters in a phased manner, treating these clusters as comprehensive carriers to shape the core competitiveness of the digital economy, promote the circulation and utilization of data across different entities and regions, and facilitate the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation. Secondly, it will nurture and strengthen innovative digital economy enterprises. This year, the National Bureau of Statistics, together with relevant departments such as the National Development and Reform Commission, will select a group of enterprises with strong innovation vitality and great growth potential for incubation, focusing on the development needs of these incubated enterprises, providing one-stop policy support in terms of computing power, data, scenarios, funds, etc. Thirdly, it will promote the digital transformation of cities comprehensively, deepen the development of smart cities, and advance the pilot program for comprehensive digital transformation of cities. This will accelerate the digital empowerment of the manufacturing industry to improve quality, value, and efficiency, support the establishment of digital transformation empowerment platforms, and form a digital transformation ecosystem based on supply-demand matching, full-chain collaboration, and value-driven principles.
