The German Ministry of Finance announced on the 19th that it is studying a special tax scheme for oil companies aimed at extracting some of the profits from the surge in oil prices as tax revenue. German officials stated that they are studying schemes to levy windfall profit taxes to ease the pressure on people's daily lives, with one option being to use the funds to increase commuting subsidies for the public. In addition, the German government is already drafting a bill that would allow gas stations to raise prices only once a day and strengthen the intervention powers of the Federal Cartel Office.
