Due to the turmoil in the Middle East, it is expected that the amount of fuel imported from Russia by Asia will reach a historic high.
As of Thursday, shipping data shows that in March, Asia is expected to import a record amount of fuel oil from Russia following the relaxation of sanctions in the United States. However, starting next month, supply is expected to tighten further due to military actions taken by the United States and Israel against Iran. This surge in imports will help alleviate some concerns in the market about supply shortages. Previous conflicts have already led to interruptions in fuel shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, and refineries in the Middle East have also halted operations, causing a shortage of fuel oil in the region. According to ship tracking data from Kpler and the London Stock Exchange Group, Asia is set to receive over 3 million tons of Russian fuel oil this month.
