On the 18th, the American space agency NASA announced that two American astronauts on the International Space Station had completed a spacewalk task to install a solar array modification kit on the station and safely returned to the station after about 7 hours outside. The two astronauts who participated in the spacewalk were Jessica Meir and Chris Williams. They completed several tasks during the spacewalk, including preparing for the transformation of the 2A power channel on the station to install a roll-up solar array, which will provide the station with more power to ensure the operation of critical systems and safe controlled off-orbit operations. In addition, they also installed power system cross-connect cables on the 2A channel and adjusted the torque bolts on the battery box. This was Williams' first spacewalk and Meir's fourth. Williams arrived at the International Space Station in November 2025 aboard the Russian "Soyuz MS-28" spacecraft, while Meir arrived at the station in February 2026 aboard SpaceX's "Dragon" spacecraft.
