Cell "Express Delivery" Safely and Efficiently Delivered: Chinese scientists have developed a new mitochondrial capsule transplant technology.

Journalists learned from the Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and Health of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that recently, the institute, in collaboration with Guangzhou Medical University and several other institutions, has developed a new highly efficient mitochondrial capsule transplantation technology. By "packaging" healthy mitochondria into vesicles, they have successfully achieved safe and efficient "delivery" to cells and tissues for the first time internationally. This mitochondrial capsule transplantation technology can improve symptoms of diseases such as Parkinson's disease and mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome. This research proposes a new "organelle therapy" strategy in the field of regenerative medicine, opening up new treatment options for many diseases caused by mitochondrial dysfunction, such as mitochondrial genetic diseases and neurodegenerative diseases. The related findings were published in the international academic journal "Cell" on March 18th.
