Recently, smartphone brands such as OPPO and vivo announced price increases for some of their products, signaling a wave of price hikes that is affecting the entire industry. "After March 16, the prices of OPPO's A series, K series, and OnePlus models in the store have been increased by 200 to 500 yuan," a store employee in a OPPO store in Beijing's Xicheng district told reporters. The price adjustments mainly affect models that have already been released and are popular for their sales volume. For example, the starting price of the OPPO K13 Turbo is now 2299 yuan, which is 500 yuan higher than before. Reporters have learned that other major smartphone brands have not announced price increases, but store employees have indicated that it is becoming increasingly difficult to restock some high-capacity models. Some employees also mentioned that traditionally, new models are usually discounted after being on the market for some time, but several models released in the second half of last year have not been discounted, leading to a de facto price hike. The most commonly cited reason for the price increase is the continual rise in prices of storage chips.
