Iraq confirmed on the 18th that they have "unblocked" a crude oil export route: by connecting the land oil pipeline between the northern Kurdish autonomous region and the port of Ceyhan in southern Turkey, oil produced in the north can be transported to the Mediterranean. According to Reuters, under the urging of various parties including the Iraqi president and parliament, the central government and the regional government reached an agreement on this oil transportation plan on the 17th. The autonomous region has a high degree of autonomy and has previously had disagreements with the central government on issues such as the distribution of oil revenue.
