This afternoon, Samsung Electronics and AMD announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding to expand their strategic cooperation in AI infrastructure memory supply. The two companies stated that the cooperation will revolve around providing HBM4 high bandwidth memory for AMD's next-generation Instinct MI455X AI accelerator, as well as optimized DDR5 memory solutions for AMD's sixth-generation EPYC processor. They will also explore the possibility of foundry cooperation, with Samsung potentially providing manufacturing services for AMD's next-generation chips in the future. Under the agreement, Samsung will become a key HBM4 supplier for AMD's next-generation AI GPU. Previously, Samsung has been one of AMD's main HBM suppliers, providing HBM3E memory for the MI350X and MI355X accelerators.
