According to data released by the South Korean securities depositary institution on Wednesday, as of the end of last year, the number of shareholders of the 2727 companies listed on the South Korean stock market reached 14.6 million, an increase of 2.3% from 2024. 99.1% of these shareholders are individual investors, while foreign investors account for 0.2%. The data shows that the market giant Samsung Electronics has the highest number of shareholders, reaching 4.6 million, but this is a decrease of over 1 million from the 5.7 million in 2024. In contrast, SK Hynix's number of shareholders reached 1.19 million, an increase of over 50% from 2024.
