The National Parliament of Myanmar has elected a new Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

On the morning of the 18th local time, the first session of the third National Assembly of Myanmar was held in Naypyidaw. Ang Lin Htwe was elected as the new Speaker of the National Assembly, and Jay Pann Nal was elected as the new Vice Speaker after a vote by members of parliament. A total of 213 legislators attended the meeting. Ang Lin Htwe is the Executive Director of the Myanmar National Defense and Security Committee Office, and was elected as a member of the Mandalay Provincial Assembly. Jay Pann Nal is the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs of Myanmar, and was elected as a member of the Kachin State Assembly.
