Three informed sources said that due to the Middle East conflict resulting in the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, in the coming days, Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) will be transporting aluminum export products and raw materials through the port of Sohar in Oman. The war between the United States and Israel against Iran has entered its third week, and companies in the region, including aluminum producers, are seeking alternative export routes. A source said that EGA will import alumina raw materials through the port of Sohar, and then transport them to Dubai or Abu Dhabi for smelting by truck. The company also plans to start exporting aluminum products through the port of Sohar this week. According to two informed sources, Bahrain's Aluminium production of 1.6 million tons per year also intends to use the port of Sohar for transportation.
