American Oscar TV viewers decreased by 9% compared to last year.
According to Nielsen data released by ABC on Tuesday, the Oscars ceremony attracted 17.9 million viewers in the United States, a decrease of 9% from the previous year, marking the lowest since 2022. Sunday's data reflected the viewership of both ABC and streaming service Hulu, both of which are owned by Walt Disney Company. As television audiences shift towards streaming and social media, the ratings for awards shows have been declining in recent years. ABC reported that social media impressions for this year's Oscars ceremony increased by 42% compared to 2025, surpassing 1.84 billion impressions.
