Rebecca Burch, Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Tax Affairs at the US Treasury Department, said that the United States is not in a hurry to reach a multilateral solution to the taxation of large technology companies. "I think we need to slow down and be very cautious about heading towards any kind of solution." Speaking at a tax conference in Brussels, the official warned that any agreement reached without US consent would not be directly "adopted by the United States," and reiterated that the US consistently views the digital services tax as a trade issue.
