Partial shutdown of the US Department of Homeland Security, nearly one-tenth of airport security personnel did not report to work.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced on the 16th that as the partial government shutdown of some departments continues, approximately 10% of Transportation Security Administration airport security screeners did not report to work last Sunday, the 15th. The Department of Homeland Security stated that normally the absentee rate is less than 2%. It is reported that the shortage of personnel has led to significantly longer security lines at some U.S. airports. Several major U.S. airlines have called on Congress to quickly end the shutdown deadlock.
