The scale of resource ETFs has grown significantly within the year.
Since the beginning of this year, the performance of ETFs in different categories has differentiated, with the size of resource-themed products performing well. According to Wind Information data, as of March 16th, the scale of resource ETFs such as gold and oil has grown by over 100 billion yuan since the beginning of the year, while dividend and power grid equipment-themed ETFs have also performed well. Wang Xiang, a fund manager at Bosera Fund, told reporters that this year, concerns about global liquidity combined with expectations of loose monetary policies in overseas markets have decreased, leading to an increase in demand for safe-haven assets like gold and other precious metals as part of asset allocation, which is also a major reason for the continuous growth in the size of such themed funds. In addition, the current escalation of geopolitical risks affecting the global energy supply chain is expected to significantly boost international oil prices, leading to a noticeable increase in the size of related thematic ETFs.
