The number of foreign nationals entering Shanghai port in a single day reached a record high.

On March 13, the number of foreign nationals entering Shanghai port exceeded 27,000 person-times, setting a new record for the highest number of foreign nationals entering in a single day. With China's unilateral visa-free policy for holders of ordinary passports from Canada and the UK implemented for nearly a month, a total of over 8,300 people from these two countries have entered China through Shanghai. According to the Shanghai General Station of Immigration Inspection, the number of foreign nationals entering Shanghai port this year has reached 1.172 million person-times, an increase of 20.0% compared to the same period last year, with 1.086 million person-times entering through airports and 53,000 person-times entering through cruise ports. The proportion of foreign nationals entering with visa-free or transit visa-free arrangements is as high as 66.8%.
