Two Indian cargo ships successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Central News Agency reporter, two liquefied petroleum gas carriers belonging to an Indian shipping company, flying the Indian flag, recently successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz and are currently heading towards India, expected to arrive at an Indian port in a few days. Sources say that this operation was "very cautious." Currently, there are over 20 merchant ships flying the Indian flag anchored in the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman and is a vital route for the oil exports of several major oil-producing countries in the Middle East, transporting approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil shipments. On the same day that the US launched a military strike against Iran on February 28, Iran announced a ban on any ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. With the escalation of hostilities, the risks of shipping in this energy chokepoint have increased sharply, leading to many ships either halting their operations or taking detours. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Lavanichi stated in an interview on March 12 that Iran allows ships from some countries to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
