The US Department of Energy stated that the Trump administration instructed Sable Offshore to resume oil drilling operations off the coast of southern California on Friday. Energy Secretary Chris Wright instructed Sable Offshore to resume operations at the Santa Ynez oil field and the Santa Ynez pipeline system to address supply disruption risks caused by California policies that have led to the region and the US military relying on foreign oil. This action is authorized under the Defense Production Act.
