The United States eases oil sanctions against Russia in response to the impact on Middle Eastern oil supplies.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control issued a general license late on the 12th, announcing a temporary relaxation of sanctions on Russian oil to address the impact of disrupted navigation in the Strait of Hormuz on energy markets. The Office of Foreign Assets Control authorized transactions such as sale, delivery, and discharge of Russian crude oil or petroleum products already loaded from March 12 to April 11 in U.S. Eastern Time. The U.S. had previously prohibited such transactions based on domestic regulations or executive orders.
