Supply chain begins to fluctuate, South Korea's chip giant urgently checks helium inventory.
The Korea Times reported on the 11th that with the increasing risks in shipping through the Hormuz Strait, the supply chain of key raw materials such as helium is beginning to fluctuate. As a core industrial gas needed for semiconductor manufacturing, helium is mainly extracted from liquefied natural gas. In order to prevent risks from spreading, major chip companies in South Korea such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have conducted a comprehensive inspection of their helium inventory. Industry insiders in South Korea pointed out that finding alternative sources of helium in the short term is not easy, and expensive American natural gas may become a backup option.
