Due to the blockage of the Hormuz Strait, the price of gasoline in Japan, which heavily relies on imported oil from the Middle East, has recently soared. The retail price of gasoline at Tokyo gas stations has risen from over 150 yen per liter a week ago to over 190 yen per liter. According to the report cited by Kyodo News on the 11th, Japanese domestic oil wholesalers plan to raise the wholesale price of gasoline by about 25 yen per liter starting from the 12th, and each gas station can decide on the extent of the price increase. This will be the largest increase since comparable data began in 1990.
