Residents on Hainan Island can purchase daily consumer goods with zero tariffs: total shopping expenditure for the first month is 5.37 million yuan.
On March 11, the "zero tariff" policy for imported goods consumed by residents on Hainan Island has been in place for a month. According to Haikou Customs, since the implementation of the policy, 28,000 people have purchased imported goods with zero tariffs, amounting to 5.3731 million yuan. In the duty-free store of Zhuhai in Sanya City, products like chocolate from Germany, milk powder from Switzerland, and cherries from Australia, which used to only be available through island duty-free shopping or cross-border shopping, are now neatly displayed in local shopping malls for residents to purchase. "There are more and more types of products available. Last time I bought imported milk powder and diapers for my child, and this time I saw the shampoo that I've been wanting to buy. I no longer have to wait for online delivery, the price is affordable, and the quality is more reliable," said Liu, a resident of Sanya, who is shopping for hair care products.
