Li Yongli, member of the National People's Congress and Secretary of the Party Group and President of the Chongqing Higher People's Court, stated that the Central Committee of the Party and the State Council attach great importance to optimizing holiday arrangements to inherit Chinese culture, promote consumption, and enhance national identity. However, the current system has shortcomings in setting major commemorative days and granting local autonomy in holiday arrangements. In this regard, he suggested exploring the revision of the "National Holidays and Commemorative Days Holiday Regulations," improving legal support, and steadily adding national commemorative and cultural holiday periods to strengthen their guiding role. He proposed prioritizing the inclusion of the Victory Day of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Double Ninth Festival as national statutory holidays, as well as introducing a holiday for the Lantern Festival; gradually granting non-ethnic minority provinces and cities the autonomy to arrange holidays and promoting pilot projects.
