Lululemon fined over 700,000 Australian dollars by Australian regulatory authority for violating spam regulations.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority announced on March 11 that it has fined Lululemon 702,900 Australian dollars for sending over 370,000 commercial content emails without providing an unsubscribe option. ACMA's investigation found that between December 1, 2024, and January 5, 2025, Lululemon incorrectly classified emails with obvious marketing purposes as service information. ACMA pointed out that the spam regulations clearly state that if an email contains any promotional or sales content, it should be considered a commercial email, regardless of any other purposes it may have.
