Thailand requires government agency staff to work from home to reduce consumption as energy supply risks increase.
As one of the urgent measures to reduce energy demand, the Thai government will require most government agencies to adopt comprehensive work-from-home arrangements. Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of Thailand's National Economic and Social Development Council, stated that this measure was approved by the cabinet on Tuesday to reduce energy consumption in the face of escalating supply risks. The cabinet also urged government officials to suspend non-essential overseas travel during this period and only allow participation in necessary international meetings. Meanwhile, in the Philippines, where almost all oil demand relies on imports, government departments have also started working on a temporary four-day schedule this week to save energy amid rising fuel prices caused by the tense situation in the Middle East.
