The tense situation in the Middle East has caused international oil prices to soar, leading to a "Black Monday" for Asia-Pacific stock markets, with many countries' stocks opening and falling lower. The South Korean KOSPI index plunged more than 8% at one point, triggering a trading curb. The Japanese Nikkei 225 index dropped over 7%, the Vietnamese VN 30 index fell over 6%, the Australian S&P/ASX200 index and the Indonesian composite index dropped over 4%. The MSCI Asia-Pacific index fell by over 3%.
