Wang Yi: China does not agree with the logic of great power co-governance.
On the 8th day, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, said at a press conference during the Fourth Session of the 14th National People's Congress that China and the United States certainly have a significant influence on the world. However, we should not forget that there are more than 190 countries on this planet. World history has always been written jointly by various countries, and the future of humanity has always been created jointly by the people of various countries. Diversity and coexistence are the natural appearance of human society, and a multi-polar coexistence is the appropriate structure for the international community. Looking back at history, every time there has been a struggle for hegemony among great powers or confrontation between blocs, disasters and suffering have been brought to humanity. Therefore, China will never follow the old path of seeking hegemony as a strong nation, nor do we agree with the logic of "great power governance." China's constitution clearly states that we must adhere to an independent foreign policy and persist in the path of peaceful development. Chinese leaders have repeatedly emphasized internationally that regardless of how the international situation evolves or how much our own development progresses, China will never seek hegemony, and will never expand.
