The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has issued a statement on the latest developments in the situation in West Asia and the Gulf region. 1. The Indian government is closely monitoring the developments in the situation in West Asia and the Gulf region, especially concerning the welfare of Indian citizens who are stranded or on short-term visits in the region. 2. It is advised that all Indian citizens in the region adhere to the guidelines of the local government as well as the advice issued by the Indian Embassy or Consulate in the respective countries. The Indian embassies and consulates in these countries have issued detailed guidance and established a 24-hour helpline to assist with various issues arising from the current situation. 3. The Ministry of External Affairs has set up a special control room to monitor the situation and respond to queries from affected individuals and their families. 4. In the past few days, with partial opening of the airspace in the region, both Indian and foreign airlines are operating commercial flights, including chartered flights, to facilitate the return of Indian passengers transiting or on short-term visits in these countries. As of now, over 52,000 Indian citizens have returned safely to India from the Gulf region on these flights between March 1 and 7, 2026, with 32,107 of them on Indian airlines. More flights will be arranged in the coming days. 5. For countries where commercial flights have not yet resumed, Indian citizens are advised to contact the relevant Embassy/Consulate to inquire about the latest available commercial flight information and advice. 6. Ensuring the safety and welfare of overseas Indian citizens is a top priority for the Indian government, and it will continue to work closely with the governments of the region to provide assistance to those in need.
