Bai Jingyu, director of the Innovation and High-Tech Development Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated at a press conference of the State Council Information Office that the draft outline of the "15th Five-Year Plan" is building a strategic sequence of emerging industries, emerging pillar industries, and future industries that are a combination of both near and far perspectives. Based on the current situation, efforts will continue to be made to develop strategic emerging industries such as new generation information technology and new energy, and to construct industrial clusters with unique characteristics and complementary advantages according to local conditions. Looking towards the medium term, efforts will focus on developing emerging pillar industries such as integrated circuits, biomedicine, and aerospace, in order to build new pillars for the development of the national economy. Looking towards the long term, forward-looking layouts will be made for future industries such as quantum technology, brain-machine interfaces, and embodied intelligence, in order to nurture strategic emerging industries for "tomorrow" and pillar industries for "the day after tomorrow".
