Google has raised Sundar Pichai's potential total compensation for the next three years to $692 million, making him one of the highest-paid chief executives in the world. The company said on Friday that the main part of Pichai's compensation package is in the form of performance stock units, with a target value of $126 million, to be distributed in two batches on average. The value of these performance stock units will be determined based on the comparison of the total shareholder return of the parent company Alphabet with the S&P 100 Index constituents: if Alphabet's performance significantly outperforms, the target value may be doubled, up to $252 million; if performance lags, he may receive nothing. In addition, the CEO will also receive $84 million in restricted stock over the next three years, which will vest roughly monthly as long as he remains with the company; and his annual salary is $2 million.
