SpaceX plans to launch about 1200 second-generation satellites into space by the end of 2027. The company hopes to provide global mobile Starlink internet service with DSL broadband quality, with download speeds of up to 100 megabits per second and upload speeds of up to 50 megabits per second. According to the German business publication "Wirtschaftswoche," Gwynne Shotwell announced this plan at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. She stated, "Our satellite constellation is designed to complement ground networks and ensure communication services in crisis situations and when mobile communication networks are interrupted." The second-generation satellite system will provide mobile internet connection for the entire Earth, with connection quality reaching levels previously only provided by fixed broadband networks. In addition, Starlink also plans to provide additional network capacity support for mobile operators during large events.
