Maersk Line announced that it will temporarily suspend two container routes due to security risks in the Middle East and Gulf region. This shows that conflicts are disrupting global supply chains. The company's notice to customers on Friday stated that it will temporarily suspend the FM1 route (connecting the Far East with the Middle East) and the ME11 route (connecting the Middle East with Europe). Previously, Maersk had already suspended bookings for several Gulf and Middle Eastern countries. The notice stated that the suspension is a "precautionary measure" aimed at protecting employee safety and was made based on risk assessments. Maersk also stated that its local shuttle services in the Gulf region will be suspended until further notice. Additionally, the ME1 route (covering the Middle East to Northern Europe) will cancel its stop at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai, which is usually one of the busiest container ports outside of Asia.
